One the the challenges with managing the disease is enabling patients who are experiencing symptoms to correctly decide if an OR visit is the correct next step. Too often patients make unnecessary, time consuming and costly visits to the OR, or even worse don’t go when a serious event arises. The Dexter monitoring system was conceived by a Philadelphian OR doctor who all to often witnessed this. After receiving a multi-million dollar award to develop an at home monitoring device he started to pursue his vision - A EMR connected monitoring device to capture a patients ECG, heart rate, temperature and respiratory sounds to allow at home diagnostics guided by a physician.
